Dad's Retirement

Well, it is official!  My dad has finally retired!  He is 75 and is still going strong, but I believe he deserves some time off for good behavior!  Kaden and I went to Pocatello to my dad's retirement party, Greg took Tyson to his Holiday AAU tournament game.  As we got to Pocatello, my mom called and said Jim's family, Rod, and her were going to lunch at Mandarin Garden and invited us along.  Kaden and I were there first, and the sign on the door made us hungry (not!).  It was fun getting to talk to everyone for a while before the party.  We got to the DI at 1:00 for his party.

The office manager had lots of nice things to say about my dad and how hard he works.  None of the things he said surprised any of us.  He is a wonderful man.

They then gave people in the room a moment to talk about dad.  Lots of praise was given to him.  My dad is a wonderful person.  He is very hard working.  He works with a smile on his face.  He can always make me laugh.  One lady from his work said there have been many times when she has asked another driver to unload a pod or some other project, and they come right back inside.  When she questions them, she finds out Jack already did the job. That is the kind of man my dad is.

They had a "Captain Jack Sparrow" costume on the board.  They said they have lovingly nicknamed my dad Captain Jack, so they made him put on the hat and wig for some pictures.

My dad is generally a man of few words, but he did an awesome job speaking when they turned the time over to him.  I am so proud of him.

Well it's official you don't eat there enough...it's Mandarin House...not to be confused with it's cousin Bamboo Garden. We are so glad we got to see you and spend time with you, even if we did make you sick!
