Weekend- October 8-9th

Luckily, Friday started out a lot better than Thursday. Greg and I got up and got the kids off to school. We then did a few chores around the house and then took off for a mini-anniversary get a way. We headed to Salt Lake. Greg was patient with me and let me do a bunch of shopping. I got the grandkids all done for Christmas and Halloween, I got the little boys a couple of things for Christmas, and Greg and I each got a few new additions to the wardrobes (I must admit, I got more than he did though). We then had a yummy (but very expensive) dinner. Greg had texted a friend and asked for some advice on where to have dinner. We ate at a restaurant called Ruth's Chris steakhouse. They had rose petals on the table for us when we got there along with a card. They pampered us beyond belief, and also bought us dessert. The waitress was very impressed that we had been married that long, and asked us what our secret was. Isn't that funny? Here I am thinking how short of a time it has really been, but I guess it seemed like forever to her. I told her the secret is that he still makes me laugh. It was really fun. Greg hadn't told me where we were staying. He had booked the Rose Garden room at the Anniversary Inn. It was kind of cheesy, but very sweet. He knows I love roses. Here is Greg looking very serious! This photo is kind of silly, but I sure do love this man! Who knew that 30 years of marriage would fly by so fast? Add Image I know this is goofy, but I wanted to show how huge our tub was. Saturday we got up and did a little more shopping and then met up with Tyson at his playoff football game in Roy. They have had a really good season, but they got skunked in this game. They lost 25-0. It was kind of sad. They had a great season though. They finished 6-2 and the one loss was only by a couple of points. I thought they really improved over the year, and Tyson sure appreciated and respected his coaches. Coach Kent and Tyson. Coach Wise and Tyson. Here is Tyson with Coach Miller. We then headed home. Kris and Dave met us at home just a few minutes after we arrived to bring us the little girls. It was their seventh anniversary, and they headed to Logan to the USU football game and to spend the night there. One of the boys asked Greg what he had done with Tiger. Greg told him he had buried her. That brought up a conversation with Maddie about what had happened to the cat. She asked Greg if Tiger was in heaven. When Greg said yes, she informed him that she knew it was only Tiger's spirit in heaven. She said she knew all about spirits and heaven, because her daddy had told her all about it. I sure love that my grandchildren all have such wonderful daddies. We knew we might not see the girls again before Halloween, so we decided to have a little fun with them. Maddie and Grandpa cleaning out the guts of her pumpkin. You can tell by her face that she thinks it is kind of gross! Kaden was with some friends at a party, and Tyson went to a corm maze with some friends and came home a muddy mess. Kenzie thought getting her hands in the pumpkin was fun. Kenzie wanted a Mickey Mouse pumpkin. Madison was very good at drawing a cat on hers. She made sure that Grandpa would do the cutting though, because she said last year she got hurt. She did a great job drawing a cat, and even had a tail on the back that she had to have carved. After carving Maddie helped make caramel apples. She said she needed Grandpa's power to put in the sticks. She said it was kind of like her dad's man power, but Grandpa was a lot older. That made me laugh. Sunday morning we got up and got ready for church. Madison went right to primary fine. Makenzie didn't really want me to leave her in nursery, so I stayed there. She was fine playing with all the kids. When it was time for singing and the lesson, one of the ladies in the nursery tried talking to her. That was the end of the happiness. Her bottom lip stuck out, her arms crossed, and everyone was glared at for the rest of nursery time. During sacrament meeting, Madison got up and bore her testimony. She did awesome. I decided to bear my testimony. Kenzie went up with me to sit on Grandpa's lap. She didn't want to come back down with me. Well, that was fine until she decided to play on the stand instead of sitting on his lap. When she got over to play the piano, Kaden jumped up and grabbed her. She didn't like that, so she started to cry. We left 15 minutes early! We came home and had dinner with Dave and Kris, and then let the girls have their trick or treats. We made caramel corn and took it to my visiting teaching ladies and the new neighbors who just moved in. I still can't believe today is our 30th anniversary. Time has just sped by. I am sure glad to have Greg in my life as my best friend and companion for eternity.
