Friday night Kris called and said that she was pretty sure her water was leaking (it had not actually broke). Dave had gone to a class he is taking and she was trying to decide whether or not to head over to the hospital. Kaden and Tyson were both going to the corn maze with some friends. She ended up deciding to go and get checked. Dave decided to leave class in case it was the real thing. She called around 10 to say that they were going to take the baby. Greg stayed home to pick up the kids when they were done. She was scheduled to have Taylee on November 3rd. I took off and headed to Salt Lake. On the way I talked to my mom on the phone. I found out that it was my Grandma Brown's birthday and she mentioned that it would be really neat to have her born on it. Well, Taylee made it in time to share the birthday at 11:54 p.m. Right after she was born they took her to the NICU. She was not breathing well on her own. At first we thought it would only be for a couple of hours, but then it was changed to a day, and then the prognosis was a week or two. They ended up having to put a tube in for her to breathe with. The worst part was that Kris had not held her or really had a good look at her yet. They made her wait until she could feel her legs again. Then, the first time she went to try and see her she started throwing up and they made her go back to her room. I felt so bad for her. It is hard enough knowing that things are going wrong, but it is worse to be the mom and not be able to be with her. Luckily, Kris is a toughie and was not kept down for long. Taylee is a little fighter and is already doing so much better. Today they were able to take her off the ventilator. She is such a beautiful baby. It is so hard to see her struggling. We know she will be fine, and in the grand scheme of things, this is really just a small bump in the road, but it is sure hard to see such a little one having a difficult time. I was so proud of Dave and Kris for wanting her to have a blessing right away. I am sure that is main reason in why she is improving so rapidly.
I was so glad when Kris was able to get to go and see her baby girl!
Saturday Greg and the boys came to the hospital. When we took off for home we took Madison and Makenzie with us. They were so much fun. They decorated some Halloween cookies for their mom. They also decorated her a pumpkin and got the baby a balloon. Also, Madison and Tyson caught a baby garter snake in the back yard. They used a stick to put it in a box on the back porch. Maddie couldn't understand why I didn't want to see it. She kept telling me it is just a baby! Yuck! She claims she wants to be a vet when she grows up. I think she really could be one! Kenzie was a trooper and was collecting leaves and grass for the snake a bed. What funny girls!
