Last weekend, we traveled to St. George for a combination- baseball tournament and Utah Press Association weekend. We were actually quite happy they were both the same weekend, as it saved us paying for a hotel for the tournament. The first day there, Greg had arranged with Jayson's help to have the boys get to go and have a tour of the Dixie College field and get to meet some of the players. I think the boys all really enjoyed it. Here are a bunch of photos Greg took of Tyson playing in the tournament. As you can tell, my son is always the one with the dirtiest pants! There team ended up taking third place out of about 40 teams in their age division. Not bad! Tyson hit one home run this tournament. One of our coaches friends ended up going and measuring where it first landed....310 ft. It makes me laugh to think of someone out measuring...but it was a really well hit ball. It went past the fence, past a row of parked cars, past a spot where cars could drive and hit a car in the next row of parking. That makes me think twice before I park at a ball game! On Saturday night they have the annual awards banquet for the press association. My eyes are closed....Tyson is not looking at the camera....and Kaden has a silly smile...but this proves we were there! The Leader won lots of awards! We thought for sure they had the general excellence award in the bag....but they must have been beat out by a few points. Here are Greg, the editor, Ellen Cook, along with some of the award presenters.
