Busy Weekend
Wednesday night we made lots of jam and froze strawberries along with getting baby kitties. Thursday night, I already blogged about, was Kaden's school play. After the play, Kaden went home with my parents to Pocatello. Friday, I left school at noon to go to Pocatello to Kaden's clogging competition. We also got to watch my niece, Natalie, clog. We were glad to get to see her since both her parents are in Tennessee right now. (Rick came through his surgery well, and now starts the long road to recovery.) Greg and Tyson stayed in Tremonton to have Tyson play ball, and then they hurried to Pocatello. Kaden's group clogged really well! They looked like experts! Ryan came to the competition, my parents came, and my sister-in-law Valerie and her kids came too. It was great to have such a cheering section! After the competition, Kaden and I stayed at my parent's house for the night, while Greg and Tyson headed home for an early morning baseball start. Kaden and I got to Tremonton Saturday morning just in time for Tyson's two games. After the two baseball games, I ran some errands in Logan. When I got home, Greg and I decided to go out to the Crossroads to have dinner. I was glad, since I felt like I had hardly talked to the man for a couple of weeks. On the way to dinner, Greg mentioned that his vision was blurry. He had gotten new glasses the week before, and he thought the prescription must be wrong. At dinner, Greg drank tons of water. Anyone that knows Greg well, knows that is very abnormal behavior for him. He really isn't a big water fan. He was mentioning to me that he was having to use the restroom frequently. The symptoms suddenly added up to me and I realized that it might be a blood sugar problem. So we stopped by our friend Jamie's house and had her test Greg's blood for us. It was EXTREMELY high. So, we stopped by Kris and Dave's house, and Kris ran over to our house to stay with the boys. By the time we got to the hospital, Greg's blood sugar registered a whopping 530. They ended up having to keep Greg overnight to get his sugar levels down, his potassium figured out, and gave him oxygen all night. It was pretty scary. He has Type 2 diabetes, so we have lots of changes to make at our house. It is good to know what is going on so that we can work on it though. All three of the older kids and their spouses and the grand-kids were at the house Sunday when we got home from the hospital along with the little boys, which was pretty great. It was fun to have everyone around, and everyone had pitched in. Kris had come over Sunday morning again and watched the boys (so she hadn't had much sleep, neither had I, and Greg had had none), all the kids had made dinner for everyone. Even though we were exhausted, it was great to have them all here. Before they all left, the three boys all helped give Greg a blessing. How blessed we are to have such wonderful sons who are worthy priesthood holders. Jayson anointed Greg with the oil, and Ryan gave the blessing. Dave and Jayson also stood in on the blessing. It was a great family moment. Even though I would not choose for Greg to have this ailment, it is sure wonderful to know that we have such awesome blessings in our lives.
