Kaden turns 16!!
I can't believe Kaden is already 16! I had told Kaden I was going to make him an "Olaf" cake for his birthday (I had seen one at the fair I thought I could duplicate). He told me I couldn't make one.....oh Kaden...you should know better- that is like a challenge to me! Anyway, he said he wanted his own birthday cake that no one else could eat. He wanted seafood for his birthday dinner, but I knew Kris and her family would be at our house on his birthday, and seafood would not thrill her kiddos, so we had birthday dinner Friday night as well. We made halibut and shrimp. Then on his birthday, we had spaghetti (another one of his favorites). It was fun to have Kris, Dave and the girls at our house for his birthday. Kaden couldn't decide what he wanted for his birthday, so we did a scavenger hunt with treats and cash that he had to go and find. Then, on Sunday, Ryan, Kristen, and their kids, and Grandma and Grandpa Kolsen all came (along with Kris and Dave still being here) for his ordination to the office of a priest. So, he got another meal out of the deal. We had french dip sandwiches (another of his favorites). Everyone went home on Sunday. On Monday after his birthday was Labor Day. Kaden wanted to go to Idaho to the Eastern Idaho State Fair. So, he and I went and met up with my parents and Jim and Kim and their kids. It was fun to people watch and eat all the favorite foods. Family is the best! Greg and Tyson stayed home and got some chores done. They built George a doghouse and did some yard work. Ty had been kind of naughty, so that is why he had to stay home. Sometimes it stinks to be a teenager!
