Comedy of Errors

When I started working at Box Elder Middle School, one of the first things I had to do was paint two offices.  The first office was for the lady that is moving from my office.  She is pregnant and so she can't paint.  Our desks are three parts all hooked together.  There is a back portion of desk with a bookcase attached.  Then there is a section where the computer sits that goes along the side wall.  Then there is a front section where people sit across from you.  The sections are all connected.  You have to move the entire desk at the same time because it is made of pressed board and you don't want to strip the screws that hold the desk together.  A bunch of ladies helped me move the first desk into the middle of the room so we could paint and then helped move it back in place.  Then when we painted my office, the ladies helped me move my desk into the middle of the room.  When the paint dried, we were going to move the desk back when one of the ladies said we really should have the custodians help since it was so heavy and awkward.  Well, that was a mistake!  The one gentleman couldn't lift his end, so I switched him spots.  Then the other custodian shoved the edge of the desk and broke the leg.  He was going to put it down on the floor, but we informed him that the screws would strip out.  So the first custodian ran and got a box to prop my desk up with.  Later in the afternoon, we found out the box had a very expensive defibrillator inside.  Woops!  So, they came back with the garbage can.  They then informed me that they probably wouldn't get around to fixing the desk before school starts in the fall, but the garbage can would work great.  Needless to say, that didn't work great for me.  Greg came early the next morning and fixed it for me.  I thought this was a hilarious story.....but then Greg told me about his day!
At his Preston office they have been busy remodeling.  They had the floors stripped and were getting new carpet.  A man came in needing a some business cards laminated.  So the one lady went and got the pocket laminator.  As she came walking back with it, someone got in her way so she stepped to the side, right into a spot where the workmen had just applied the carpet glue.  She fell right on her back in the glue.  She cracked her head and broke the laminator.  Then, another lady, feeling bad for her, ran to help her.  She stepped in the same newly glued floor and fell on her back also and cracked her head.  Greg said there should have been silent film piano music in the background.  His story beat mine!  Greg commented he wasn't going to take the second woman ice fishing with him.  If he fell through the ice, she would run and fall through with him.
