Mother's Day 2010

Mornings at our house are generally kind of rocky. Tyson is NOT a morning person! So, needless to say, by the time we get moving out the door, we are generally all grouchy. This morning started out no different, which was kind of sad, considering it is Mother's Day. I had the lesson for our young women's group, and I had a couple of girls I needed to pick up for church. I also had a ton of stuff to take, because I had made cake pops and chocolates and cards for the girls to give their moms. Anyway, by the time I got to church at 9 I was frazzled. A few minutes later Tyson came and apologized (with nudging from his brother). After Sunday School, Kaden came and handed me a sacrament meeting program. As a surprise, he was speaking in sacrament meeting and hadn't told me! It was a great surprise! I have had great phone calls from my boys, Kris Dave and the cute girls came over....it has been a great day! We had a great dinner, we got Tyson's science fair poster made, we planted my Mother's Day flowers....I have really enjoyed myself. I am attaching Kaden's talk: Kaden Mother's Day Talk 2010 I am happy but nervous to have this chance to talk on Mother's Day. Happy, because I get to talk about my mom, Sherri Madson. Nervous, because I have to stand up in front of all of you. First, let me share some words of President Monson's on mothers. He said, "God could not be everywhere, and so He gave us mothers." In the scriptures we read often about mothers. Here is one verse. In John, Chapter 10, Verses 26 and 27, we read: while on the cruel cross of Calvary, suffering intense pain and anguish, Jesus "saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother!" Even as Jesus was being crucified, he remembered his mother. I have a very special mom. She cooks my favorite food all the time, which is pretty much everything but tacos. She is a great baker. She makes really good rolls that my dad can't have anymore. She is very smart and can help me with my homework when I don't get it, something my dad can't do. She is good at math, he stinks at it. She showed me how important school is to her because she went back to college to get a Master's Degree. My mom always keeps me on task when I get off track. I know my mom loves me very much because she always tells me so. I also have two very special Grandmas. One is my Grandma Kaye, the other is my Grandma Kolsen. I love them both very much and am glad they are my mom and dad's mothers. My sister, Kristen, is a great mom too. She has two very funny daughters, Maddie and Kenzie. She always makes sure they are trying to have fun and she does fun things with them. My sister-in-law Kristen, is a mom to my nephew Carter and niece Kami. She always makes sure they are being nice to each other. My other sister-in-law, Kassi, isn't a mom yet, but she will be a good one when it happens. Many years ago the first presidency issued an important statement. "Motherhood is near divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels." I am thankful for my mom and I love her very much. He then bore his testimony. As you can tell.....I was one very PROUD mom! I also am lucky enough to have an incredibly fabulous mother.

I love you Mama! You're a great mom. Kaden's talk is adorable. I loved it. What a good boy to say that I have fun with my girls, that is the best compliment ever since I always feel like I'm yelling at them! :)

What a sweet mother's day you had! I really think my favorite is the gift Greg and Kaden gave to you by NOT telling you that Kaden had a talk because even if Greg had said he'd help him, you would have worried about it all week! I want to see how your cake pops turned out too! They are a lot of work, but I swear it's worth it in the end. I'm sure all the girls/moms loved them.
